Conan's Tonight Show Debut - The Aftermath

To put it simply: It was great! I loved every single minute of the show.

Other random comments about the show:

The last half hour before the show started was nervewracking. The clock felt like it was crawling at a snail's pace plus I was totally full of nerves, partly because there was a chance that the power would go out because of a storm (that never happened, thank God) and also because of the show; really no reason to be nervous since it's not like I'm the one making their hosting debut on the Tonight Show or Conan's wife, but I was anyway.

When the show started (at 11:33, two minutes before the Late Show would start; probably not a coincidence) and Conan was on the screen for the first time, I cheered so loud my neighbors would probably hear if their houses were close to mine. I like the whole "running from NY to LA" bit and laughed at the part where he ran past the Victorian doll shop and then backtracked to he could so inside.

Hearing Andy's voice as announcer for the first time made me so happy; I am so glad he's back. I hope they bring back some of their classic sketches, though not the staring contest since that had a good ending on Andy's final Late Night show where he finally won.

The Big Day Is Here!

In nine hours and 40-something minutes, I will be watching the debut of The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien!

You have no idea how excited I am about this; I've had the biggest smile on my face the entire day and keep checking the DirecTV guide every couple of hours so I can see it get closer and closer to showtime. June 1st seemed like so far away and now it's here! I can't wait!

He's BA-A-A-A-ACK!

Andy Richter to Rejoin Conan O’Brien as ‘Tonight Show’ Announcer

Andy Richter is reuniting with Conan O’Brien, signing on to serve as announcer for Mr. O’Brien’s new incarnation of “The Tonight Show.”

*

On “Tonight,” Mr. Richter will not be a nightly desk-side presence as he was on “Late Night.” He will, however, participate in both live and pre-taped comedy bits.

From http://www.tvweek.com/news/2009/02/andy_richter_to_rejoin_conan_o.php

To (kinda) quote Comic Book Guy: Best.
I'm on Twitter and Facebook!

Yesterday, I got a Twitter account. If you are on there, go here (http://twitter.com/BathroomOnRight) and see what I'm doing at any given moment. If you're not, you can sign up if you feel like having one more social networking site to go to. :)

I also joined Facebook; because I don't want some people to find me (coughsomeoldclassmatesthatmademylifehellcough, I have it set so that only friends can find me in searches so I'll have to look for you. If you're interested in adding me, let me know what e-mail address you're signed up under and I'll come find you. :)

Out of the two, I find that I like Twitter better. It's just so simple to use, plus it doesn't require that you use your real name like Facebook does. I was hesitant to go on Facebook (again with the "certain classmates" thing) but as soon as I saw that there are things you can do to make sure that you stay private, I signed up.

I miss Conan already. :(

I can't believe that Late Night With Conan is no more. I hope that the next couple of months fly fast so that it's June 1st and I can see him on TV again.

I have a whole bunch of tapes filled with old Conan bits, the majority of them from between 1995-1997, that I will treasure forever until I can get a DVD recorder and put them on DVD. I haven't watched them in forever, so I should take the time to watch them when I don't feel like doing anything else.

During the finale where they played a bunch of clips from the past, I saw what I would consider a shout-out of sorts: the clip from 1996 where Jackie Chan "kicked" Conan in the face. When the Late Night Underground blog had asked fans to list their favorite moments, I was the only person to mention that as their favorite moment so I cheered when I saw that they included it on there.

These are the other favorite moments that I posted in that same comment on the blog (I saved it on Notepad as a reference). This doesn't even begin to cover it:

-Triumph at the Michael Jackson trial (especially the part with the "came in his pajamas" lady)
-Walker Lever with the kid that jumps off the ladder and his father doesn't catch him (I loved Conan's reaction to the clip)
-People Helping People
-Conan visits the office of Tiger Beat magazine becomes a teen idol (from 1998)
-Conan and Andy visit their old furniture (when the set was redecorated during the '96 Olympics)
-When Hummels Attack satellite Channel
-MAX ON MAX! ('nuff said)
-Tom Selleck kills his old moustache
-Barbara Walters interviews Andy about his affair with President Clinton
-Andy visits the Weather Channel (loved the part where he's wearing a blue suit in front of the blue screen and he blends in with the map)
-Conebone69 from the Emmys
-Guests We'll Never have Back: John Cantrell (the racist singer)
-Conan On The Aisle showing a clip of The Aviator with Star Jones as a big mountain
-Conan showing off his own version of these Jesus figurines that were in this Holy Communion catalog (and the complaint letters he received)
-The Animal Outing Network (Satellite Channel sketch)
-Conan getting phone calls from Keith Richards
-Country Moron Visits City Moron
-The Men Without Hats Conversation Channel
-Jesus' Brother Hank (December 1997)
-Conan performing at the Jerry Lewis telethon and the donation totals go down in the process
-The Old People Trying To Program A VCR Channel
-Conan and Andy On The Aisle showing a scene from Braveheart where just when the two sides get in a fight, the movie goes into Intermission
-My favorite Masturbating Bear sketch was during the holidays in 1997. He goes in a booth with money floating around to help a guy pay for Christmas gifts and he ends up masturbating instead of grabbing money.
-part of a segment when Conan and Andy reenacted a serious scene from Mad About You
-The Celebrity Resumes segment where Conan showed Bob Dole's resume and it ended with Dole being a sea captain in the 17th century and Conan yelling "He's old! The man is really, really old!"
-Conan and his girlfriend at the time are at an event meeting President Clinton; just when Conan is about to shake his hand, the White House explodes (scene from Independence Day)
-Conan/Andy Desk Drive: They drive through a high school gymnasium; the kids throw balls at them and two guys end up kidnapping Andy and stealing his clothes.
- Conan Can't Read. When this aired and it said "Conan Can't Read" in crayon with kid handwriting, I totally lost it!
-Jackie Chan kicking Conan in the face (in 1996 shortly after the show came back with the redecorated set)
-Guests We'll Never Have Back: a college football player calls Conan names and chases him around and throws footballs at him because of Conan's inability to throw a football through a tire.
-The Wussy Wagon
-when Mayor McCheese came on and announced that he was a Scientologist (aired shortly after Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah's couch)
-when Conan interviewed that guy on the internet that dresses like Peter Pan

Long live Conan!

I finally joined the 21st Century!

I finally bought an MP3 player last week. I used to only listen to music I had on my Walkman (remember those?), but not anymore. Now whenever I get around to walking in the park once the weather gets warmer (probably in June the way this weather has been), I won't feel emabarassed about the method in which I listen to music. :)

It's an Omnitech brand from Staples and it's a 2GB player that can hold up to 1,000 songs. There's also a feature on there where I can record my own voice and save it to the player; if it's possible (the directions don't say), I'll maybe put it on the computer and give you a sample of what my voice sounds like. :)

I hate to make this short, but I have a headache that is totally killing me. :(

The Weirdness of Tornadoes

This article shows just how weird tornadoes can be:

Tornado oddities: Toilet paper unwinds and rewinds

HUGO, Minn. - As residents in Hugo begin to move on from last week's tornado, some say they noticed a few bizarre things amid all the damage. Jason Akins said the twister unwound a roll of toilet paper in his bathroom — draped it across the countertop, then rewound it in the sink. The toilet paper didn't even rip.

"All I could say was, 'You have got to be kidding me,'" Akins recalled.

He also said that winds overturned sofas and ripped away his roof, but dishes of cat food and water were untouched. The cat food was actually still in the bowl.

[snipped out paragraph]

Terry Clarkin said the Hugo tornado stuck four steak knives in the yard — and they landed in a perfect square, with the blades in the dirt about three inches.

Across the street, a tree had been stripped of leaves, and instead was filled with pink wads of insulation — looking much like a tree from a cartoon.

Some residents made interesting findings amid the wreckage.

Five-year-old Lauren Ford found a red Spider-Man T-shirt in her back yard. One neighbor found a fishing boat against the remains of a front porch. Others found canoes, checkbooks or toys.

Jeff Janus said the tornado protected him.

He was in his front yard when the storm hit, and he ran inside and grabbed his dog and cat.

"I saw people's houses flying by," he said. He didn't make it to the basement, but instead crouched down in the hallway, with one animal in each arm. He said the storm tore off the bedroom doors and placed them almost gently on top of him — shielding him from falling debris.

When the storm passed, he said, he spit shreds of insulation from his mouth, but he felt the doors saved him.

"I find it hard to believe I am actually here," said Janus.

Ten Years Later

Since today is the ten-year anniversary of Phil Hartman's death, I thought that I would post some YouTube clips of Phil doing what he did best plus other Phil related clips. Unfortunately, there weren't any clips from SNL thanks to copyright issues.

NewsRadio Clips:

Smoking - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO7EFfdX8Rs
Phil Hartman proves he can get a job on Arab radio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1VkZDNsEiQ
How could she french her daddy? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmYsVa5_qFw
Rocket Fuel Malt Liquor DAAMN!!! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JpwjnMFlJI
Bill McNeal's Hypothetical Interviews - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7MQAkDjYDM
Bill McNeal interviews Jerry Seinfeld - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oErqNE6hvzQ
The Cane - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01UIB2X-WK0
The Real Deal - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH8AZvewD5I
Bill's Autobiography* Part One - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiVO3XyvsJg
Bill's Autobiography Part Two - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAAc4v3EmTY
Bill's Autobiography Part Three - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2P7jfxRBVA

*I was on a Yahoo group that was started as a tribute to him (<s>still in the group, but I haven't been there in a while</s>) and some people there said that this episode was where Phil looked his best, so because of that I thought I would post this episode out of all the ones that are on YouTube.

Commercials:

CD-I Commercial With Phil Hartman Pt 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q09ojb1QDZ4
CD-I Commercial With Phil Hartman Pt 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7AdMTTyBhg
Slice Commerical - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Htk2W99yVVk
Phil Hartman Wigs Out for Hockey for Atari 2600 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lROb1vWNiig
1-800 Collect Commercial from 1997 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhHVxgfd9Jk
1-800-Collect Commercial w/ Chris Rock - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9JBH8ofe_E
1-800-Collect commercial: Max Jerome, Private Eye (1997) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsxuukfZOog
McDonalds commercial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H89j1M6pO4U
Phil Hartman as Frank Sinatra NBC "Mad About You" commercial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JerPaM_TZko

Misc. I have to say that I'm sad that the group is no longer around. :(

Long Time No See!

It's been a while since I posted, so I thought I would drop by and let you know that I haven't died or been abducted by aliens. :)

First of all, still not working. I haven't been looking in a while, but I'm going to have to start up again soon.

A couple other things that have been going on:

-I had a tooth that had really been bothering me and it turned out that I had to have a root canal (after I had the tooth filled at first and then it started to hurt more); I had to go through two steps, the first one on April 7th and the second one (which will take about an hour) is on June 7th.

-It's been so damn cold this entire month where I live; April was warmer than this. My mom thinks I'm wrong, but I think it's going to be hot two weeks from now.

-I have been addicted to listening to Beavis and Butt-head clips that I got from YouTube (thanks, YouTube to MP3 Converter!); the majority of the clips are of the videos that they made fun of and the rest are random episodes. I look for B&B stuff every day since they get removed very quick (thanks to Viacom) and the music videos are kind of "buried" on YouTube; they're titled as BB - [name of group], so they fly under the radar. Also, the person that has these has many usernames so that each user name has only 20 videos instead of a bunch of videos under one username. One of this person's channels has been suspended but the rest of them have not been, not yet anyway.

-I am so excited that the New Kids On The Block are back together. It makes me want to dig out my old pin-ups and up them up on my wall; I'd wear my old shirts, but I don't have them anymore. This piece of news makes me feel like I'm ten years old again.

Well, that's about it for now. See you when I get the urge to post again. :)

Let's hope that this Andy show is more successful.

Comedy Central Shows for Snoop Dogg, Andy Richter

(FROM VARIETY) – Snoop Dogg, Andy Richter, and David Alan Grier showed up on Comedy Central's slate of new shows planned for the 2008-09 season. The network has ordered an untitled animated comedy about Snoop's life as a teen-ager growing up in Long Beach, CA; Richter will star in an untitled sketch pilot; and Grier is set for David Alan Grier's Chocolate News, a magazine-show parody. The network is also launching new live-action series Krod Mandoon, about a clueless medieval hero who's a bit distracted, Flaming Sword of Fire, which the channel describes as its ''first foray into medieval comedy,'' Gay Robot, an animated half-hour (consisting of two short segments) about a gay robot adjusting to life after college, and Search and Destroy, which features radio jocks Opie and Anthony sending teams of comedians on a scavenger hunt around New York. (Variety)

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20183924,00.html

It would be about time that Andy finally has a hit show. The closest that he got to having a hit was with Andy Richter Controls The Universe, but that was more of a cult hit than anything else. If this doesn't work out either, than I personally think that he should go back to being Conan's sidekick or better yet, Conan's replacement on Late Night.

Snow, UGH!

I'm getting really tired of all the snow. My area has had snow almost non-stop since sometime in mid-January and I am so ready for it to become spring and for it to go the hell away; but, we have had snow in April in the past and with the way this weather has been will probably snow this April. We didn't have any snow for Christmas, but Mother Nature sure has made up for it; according to the weather reports on TV, we have had about 60-some inches of snow since this all started and also had the fourth snowiest February on record.

BRING ON SPRING!

And don't forget to turn your clocks <s>back</s> forward (oops!) tonight; Daylight Savings Time has finally arrived and I couldn't be happier, as it's one step closer towards spring and warmer weather.

Two Quizzes

I came across the first of these two quizzes while looking at a LJ community friends list, and saw the second one after getting the results of the first:

1) Who is your ideal boyfriend?*

Who is Your Ideal TV Boyfriend?

Created by BuddyTV

2) Which character on The Simpsons are you?

Which Character on The Simpsons Are You?

Created by BuddyTV

I used to take these internet quizzes once upon a time (totally obsessed with them) and I'm thinking of starting it up again.

*I don't watch Chuck, but I think he's cute so I don't mind this result. :)

UPDATE 3/8/2008: Unfortunately, this account has been suspended so these videos are no longer available.

<s>I just got done watching these two clips from a cable access show in Texas called The Charly Show featuring a crappy host/comedian. These clips are just so bad that I have to share them with you.

This one is titled Empty Condom Machine:

[nothing to see here]

And this one is The Charly Show Spring Break Special:

[nothing to see here]

And if you want to, check out the other videos that this person has put up; the user's name is cringevideo and his videos are located at http://www.youtube.com/user/cringevideo .

Enjoy the badness and have a nice night. :)</s>

Happy 2008!

Hope the first week and a half of the new year has been good to everybody. I guess you could say it's been going well for me, even though I still don't have work yet. For the time being, I'm not looking for anything but will start soon.

I know I have said this many times, but I truly do plan on writing more entries here. In the past I promised I would post often, but ended up getting sidetracked with other stuff. This time I will really keep it up. I have a lot of stuff that I would like to start posting, like YouTube clips and some music things that I have created on my computer that I would love for people to hear.

Have a great rest-of-the-weekend! :)

Well, this is stupid.

I'm taking an internet survey (one of those where you get paid money for participating) and was asked what I state I live in. Guess what? My state is not one of them! Not only my state, but Hawaii and Mississippi are missing as well. I clicked on the "help" link and told them my situation, but I don't know if I hear an answer. If I don't hear anything from them, I'll just X out and try it again if I'm able to.

Ugly Shoe

Aren't these just the ugliest pair of shoes that you've ever seen? If anybody tells you that shoes from Payless or Target are ugly as sin, show them a picture of this:

These are the latest creation from designer Marc Jacobs; he must have been on something to come up with that.

I can't stop watching this!

I think I have watched this video about a dozen times now, and I just can't seem to stop. It is:

<lj-embed id="1" />

This video is in response to all the people and media outlets that have been critizing Britney, especially after her totally disasterous VMA performance this past Sunday. This video has already made the rounds on some news programs and I heard that he was on Howard Stern's show this morning. I'm going to be watching all the late night shows tonight (Kimmel, Jay, Conan, etc.) to see if they mention this; I did last night and there was no mention, so I assume that last night's shows were already filmed around the time that this video started making the rounds. I'm assuming that they'll make fun of it.

And I don't know what's more surprising: that nearly 2 million people have watched it or there have been over 30,000 comments.

How Old Are These CNN Dot Com I-Reporters?

I was looking at some stories on CNN when I came across this mini quiz on guessing people's real ages. I'm embarassed to say that I was wrong on all of them, but I wasn't that bad as I was off by only one to two years for a couple of them.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/07/30/quiz.guessmyage/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

Back To Square One

I had my grocery store job interview last Monday and as you can tell from the title of this entry, I didn't get it so now I'm back to looking for a job.

I thought for sure that I was going to get the job, based on the fact that I was only one of three people that were dressed up when I was there. I know that that's not the main factor for getting a job, but everyone else was wearing the clothes that they wear when they do their normal activities, like tanktops and shorts. Wouldn't you think that looking like a presentable person during a job interview would have made my chances even greater?

Now that that's over, I'm going to start going to some temp places sometime this week or next.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July! :)

Guess what I have for you? If you have said a job update, you are correct!

I have an interview with a grocery store that's opening up July 1st on Monday morning, for a stockperson position. I was originally applying for a cashier position, but I failed the math portion. You were supposed to miss four out of ten and I missed five; on one answer, I was off by one cent. I don't mind that, as I preferred to have a job on the floor anyway; I've done the cash register thing and I like the fact that this position would have me move around more and not stand in one place. I really hope that I get this; wish me luck.

Also, I have been taking driving lessons since getting my permit back in May. I've been doing well on it, though I have to work on braking more slowly and making sure that I don't run red lights (did this at least three times). The closest thing to an accident I've had was making a right turn and going up the curb into someone's yard on a hill and the car was real close to tipping over.

Long Time No See :)

Real life has been getting in the way for the past couple of weeks, so I haven't been posting regularly like I have planning on doing, but will start doing so once everything calms down. I'll have more details about what has been going on soon, as I haven't had time to really process my thoughts.

One thing that I can mention is that I finally have DSL; I love that I no longer have to wait and wait and wait for a page to load thanks to dial-up. Plus, I finally can start watching clips on YouTube without waiting for an hour for it to load. It's about time, as I have been waiting for it for quite a while and am glad that I finally have it.

Later. :)

Happy 2007!

Can you believe that it's 2007 already? It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating the new millennium, and now we're three short years away from a new decade. Amazing how time flies when you get older, huh?

Speaking of time flying, in six months it'll be ten years since I graduated high school. When I was in HS, I thought that graduation day would never get here, and now the time since graduation has flown by like a bullet.

I haven't made an official resolution list, but I have decided that I would like to do more of the following:

-update this journal more often (this is very high on my list)
-hunt for some new friends to add to my Friends List
-start reading books again (I've never got around to reading the books I got last year, as well as a book I got three years ago)
-listen to the CDs that I either haven't listened to in ages or haven't listened to at all (including a couple of CDs I bought 6 years ago that haven't been taken out of their cases)

One thing that I hope happens in 2007 is me finally getting a job; I'll give a job update soon (which I will friends-lock), so be on the lookout for that one.

BTW, for the seventh year in a row, I stayed home this New Years Eve. I wached the ball drop as I was catching up on some computer stuff. Fun, huh? :)
